You may be asking yourself: How is the system 97% first time effective and takes only an hour?
Well, 50% of why this system works so well is because of Advanced Hypnosis. The old myths and misconceptions about hypnosis have given way to proven, scientifically sound applications. Today the use of hypnosis is seen in medicine, dentistry, law enforcement, professional sports and education.
The other 50% of this system involves working with your individual needs. We use a number of NLP techniques, destroying myths and getting rid of habits, just a to name a few steps. As the session is custom tailored to you, we therefore first go about understanding a number of things such as to why you are a smoker and when you tend to smoke.
What hypnosis does is allows us to communicate directly with the unconscious part of your mind, which (believe it or not) is presently working to keep you smoking as it believes it is protecting you. Have you ever felt like you are fighting within yourself? Let me show you why.
The Conscious mind – the one you are aware of is only a small part of your whole mind!
You also have an Unconscious mind, the primary job of which is to preserve the body.
Some of its tasks include running your body when you sleep and when awake! Imagine needing to focus on breathing every moment of every day! Lucky for you the unconscious mind does that for you!
To relate this to smoking, when you first started using cigarettes, you did it consciously. You had to TEACH yourself to smoke. You coughed and sputtered and did it for long enough that it then becomes an unconscious behaviour… a habit. These days, how many cigarettes do you actually enjoy, when you do this unconsciously?
Another example is when you started driving for the first time. You had to have extreme focus on teaching yourself and doing it right. What about today? Today you can probably drive, speak on the phone or text, put on makeup… All at the same time as driving, can’t you? Although I am not saying doing these things whilst driving is a good thing!
I am betting you started smoking because of peer pressure, because everyone else was doing it or for a very similar reason. As you started smoking you would have felt good fitting in with others around you and in turn you Unconscious mind would have linked you feeling good with smoking! After all this time it is then trying to protect you and KEEP you smoking as it believes smoking makes you feel good as you fit in with others – it does not realise how times have changed for you!
This is precisely WHY you may feel you are fighting within yourself as consciously you want to quit, but subconsciously your mind is trying to protect you by keeping you a smoker!
Here you can see which part of the mind is responsible for what.
The Conscious mind is rational. The Unconscious mind not. The Conscious mindis what may be oftentelling you to stop, analyse and make sense of the information you have, whereas the Unconscious mind is telling you to trust your instincts and let your emotions run wild.
It important for you to notice the two words I highlighted as they relate so strongly to the point I want to explain now: Willpower and Habit are located in the two different minds.
Your Willpower may very well be saying “Yes, I am ready to quit”, but your smoking habit is deep installed into your Unconscious mind, which is trying to protect you, believing “smoking cigarettes makes me feel great by fitting in with others”.
The Critical Faculty can best be thought of as a psychological membrane that separatesthe Conscious and Unconscious minds. It constantly monitors all input from our senses and tends to reject what does not agree with the idea or concept that has been previously experienced or accepted by us as ‘valid’ in some way.
For example if an individual is told that he/she is stupid, then the information is either rejected or taken on board, depending on previous experiences and understandings. Therefore if we cannot get beneath the Critical Faculty, it is extremely difficult to make any lasting change.
With Hypnosis we can bypass the critical faculty allowing me to speak directly to your Unconscious mind to let it know that smoking is NOT protecting you but in fact killing you.
During Hypnosis you remain wholly in control and if there is something you don’t agree with that I speak of, then you certainly WILL be able to reject those statements just like you would whilst not under Hypnosis; however this would likely mean that the session will not work for you.
As an example: If during Hypnosis I say “Cigarettes are disgusting” and you think to yourself “No, they are not all that bad” or “They taste pretty good actually” the session is probably not going to work for you.
I can only help those who want to quit smoking and as Hypnosis is a two person process, we both have a part to play. If you do not do your part, the session will not work.
